Vivian Alamain

Vivian Alamain came to Salem and the first action she took was protecting her nephew, Lawrence, from a bullet. She was also determined to take over Alamain corporations, but her plan backfired when John Black ended up taking them over after inheriting them. Vivian was determined to be rich and powerful and saw Victor Kiriakis as her means to attain that.

Victor ended up marrying Vivian, but for business purposes. The relationship didn't last; Victor got fed up with Vivian's lies and manipulations and he began having feelings for his new tenant, Kate Roberts.

At this time, Vivian tried to frame her nemesis, Dr. Carly Manning, for murder. She was taking herbal pills from Dr. Wu, which made her a little loopy. She targeted Carly's terminally ill patients by injecting them with cleaning fluid. The police were investigating Carly for murder when Carly discovered the truth that Vivian was behind the murders, and she was determined to prove it. Vivian could not have this happen, so she gave Carly a strong dose of morphine to put her in a deep sleep. With the help of Dr. Wu's herbs, Vivian "killed" Carly by using a serum that gave her death-like paralysis. When Carly was declared dead, Vivian offered to take care of all the funeral arrangements and buried her in a coffin that was equipped with an oxygen tank and a limited supply of water. As Vivian stopped taking her herbs, she came to her senses and realized what she had done. She enlisted the help of Lawrence to help dig Carly up. Carly was barely alive and suffering from amnesia.

After Carly's life was saved, the police cornered Vivian, who offered to check herself into Pine Haven Sanitarium for good. Vivian uncovered a horrible truth about the sanitarium: they were drugging patients to keep them there longer, and bilking their families out of thousands of dollars. When the sanitarium found out that Vivian knew their secret, they ordered a lobotomy on her. Just as the procedure was about to be performed, another patient, Laura Horton, rescued her and the two women escaped to safety through a drainage pipe.

After Vivian's release, she continued to set her sights on breaking up Victor and Kate. Once she found out that Kate couldn't produce a male heir for Victor, Vivian decided to take matters into her own hands. After learning what fertility clinic Kate was working with, Vivian broke in and had her sidekick Ivan switch the labels, so Vivian could be implanted with Victor's baby. The plan did not work. Victor continued to stay with Kate and Vivian was stuck for nine months carrying Victor's "brat." Vivian made countless efforts to try to seduce Victor, to no avail. Out of desperation, Vivian staged a wedding rehearsal for Victor and Kate while Kate was away on business. Only Vivian had hired a real judge and Victor unwillingly signed a real marriage license, thinking it was all part of the rehearsal ceremony with Vivian standing in for Kate. The whole marriage was caught on tape.

Soon after, Vivian gave birth to a baby boy, whom she named Philip Robert Kiriakis. With Vivian and baby Philip both living under the Kiriakis roof, Kate begin to grow suspicious of Vivian's presence in the mansion and found out the truth from the wedding video. Kate swore to Vivian she would tell Victor the truth about her deceit when she met him in Bermuda.

Vivian drugged Kate's coffee, but was unaware Kate gave the coffee to her pilot, who dozed off while flying the plane and crashed it into the sea. Kate was declared dead after searches found nothing. Vivian found this perfect timing to become Victor's partner in love and business.

Things looked to be going Vivian's way, until the night she and Victor made love. Afterwards, Vivian's former nurse barged in and alerted Victor to Vivian's schemes, including tricking him into marrying her. Victor tossed Vivian out of his bed and out of his house.

Vivian began finding solace in taking care of her son, Philip. She was still determined to show Victor she loved him by throwing a gala in Kate's honor, and soon Victor was beginning to appreciate all of Vivian's efforts. After the gala, Victor and Vivian were about to make love when Kate walked in on them both! Kate was more vengeful than ever and told Victor everything that had transpired between her and Vivian before the plane crash, she also told Victor that Vivian was responsible for the embryo switch. Vivian, once again, was tossed out of Victor's house.

Vivian sought solace in a past Italian lover's arms, "Rudolfo." She would later discover that "Rudolfo" was the infamous Stefano DiMera. Vivian wanted nothing to do with Stefano, until he threatened her life if she didn't help him escape Salem. She reluctantly assisted in Stefano's escape, only to have John and Bo arrest her as a result.

By this time, Victor had filed for divorce from Vivian and fired her from Titan. A desperate Vivian held a press conference declaring she was going to fight for full custody of Philip. She told Victor she would drop the suit if he would leave Kate and stay with her. An agitated Victor became overworked and suffered a stroke.

With Victor's condition, Vivian, being his wife on paper, was able to stake claim toall of Victor's properties. First order of action was to throw Kate and her son, Lucas, out of the Kiriakis mansion. Vivian's power was short-lived. Kate uncovered a secret document that Victor had made, his wife and mother of his son had power over everything. Vivian, being Victor's wife, had half of the power, while Philip's biological mother, Kate, had the other half.

Vivian took her business to her favorite city, Paris. There, she had a terrible run-in with Stefano. After a lengthy chase that lead to her on the top of the Eiffel Tower, Vivian was informed by police in helicopters that she had been cleared of all charges that incriminated her with Stefano and she returned to Salem.

Back in Salem, Vivian was delivered more bad news, she was thrown from her title position at Titan. Vivian spent most of her spare time trying to find alternative medicines to help cure Victor, with the intention that he would be so grateful he would give her a second chance at love. Though Victor's health did improve, he and Vivian never again rekindled their flame.

Her luck began to turn around when her trusty sidekick Ivan won the lottery. He had offered to help Vivian with a fresh new start with him at her side. She agreed that a change was just what she needed and the two decided to live off of Ivan's winnings and globetrot the world while swimming in the lap of luxury.

But, could Vivian really stay away from Salem forever with all the connections she left behind? This would explain why she's back and ready to stir up trouble like never before.
